The Lost Treasure
Once upon a time a little prince lived in a castle with his sister the
princess. The princess gave a treasure to the prince as a present for
his birthday. "Do not lose this," she warned. "Otherwise
bad luck will come unto you."
But do you know what that prince said? He said "Ha! You must be
wrong!" And with that he left the princess, thinking how foolish
she was.
The prince went in his garden to think about his present. Then Leaf,
the princess's dog, came to see what Prince Nicholas was doing. Then Prince
Nicholas buried his treasure. He went inside and told the princess "I
buried my treasure."
"You can't do that, I bought it with all my money" she said.
"Then I will dig it up. Will you help me?" asked the prince.
"Yes, since I bought it" said the princess.
Prince Nicholas said, "I buried it in a circle of trees in the woods."
The princess asked, "Did you put an X on the place where you buried
it?"
He replied, "I think I did."
So Prince Nicholas and Princess Angel went walking into the woods and
found three circles of trees. Prince Nicholas stopped in front of a pine
tree to think about which one was the right circle. There was a circle
of trees to their left, right and right in front of them. They found an
X in the right circle! They were excited and couldn't wait to find the
treasure. They dug for his treasure at the X but it wasn't there! They
were shocked!
A guard had already found the X, when he was walking in the woods. Then
he got the treasure and took it back to the palace. He showed it to King
David and Queen Miriam, the prince and princess' parents.
The guard gives the treasure to the king and queen as a gift. Meanwhile
the prince and princess were heading back to the castle. They were feeling
gloomy and tired from looking for the treasure. When they got to the castle,
they told their parents about the missing treasure.
The King and Queen ask the Prince and Princess if the treasure they are
looking for is big. The prince and princess say "yes!". Then
they said "it was in red tissue paper and it was green on the inside."
The king and queen asked "Is this your treasure?" and they
held out the treasure the guard had given them.
"Yes!" said the prince and princess.
The prince and princess were very happy to have their treasure back,
but as the prince put it, "We had better be more careful next time
because we might not get it back. (woof! Leaf said in agreement.)
The Prince and Princess unwrapped the red tissue paper from around the
treasure. Queen Miriam asked, "Why did you buy this old thing?"
The Princess replied, "The shopkeeper told me that this was magical."
The treasure was an old green lamp that was very dirty. The Prince asked
the Princess to help him clean the lamp. They got an old cloth and started
to polish the lamp. It was very hard to clean, so they rubbed harder and
harder. All of a sudden, they jumped back because a genie had popped out
of the lamp.
"Hi, I'm Jeanie Geanie. You know the drill. You have three wishes
starting ...," he looked at his watch that seemed to not be there,
"starting now."
All the royal family did was look at him.
"What? I have insurance!" Jeanie said in amazement. Usually
everyone spat out their wishes.
The Prince went first. "Well, I could always use a golden crown
just in case I'm king." Then everything started to shake, shaking
harder and harder and STOP. There was Prince Nicholas' crown, shining
like a star with jewels.
"Next," spoke Jeanie.
The Princess stood in front of her brother. "I'm going to spend
my wish wisely by asking for a massage chair." Sure enough, everything
started to shake, shaking harder and harder and STOP. "My own massage
chair!" cried Princess Angel, hugging it with happiness.
"Well c'mon, you can't forget," blurted out Jeanie, "about
the last wish."
"Your father and I have been thinking about ending this story,"
exclaimed the Queen. "Isn't that exciting?" Before anyone had
a chance to answer, everything started to shake, shaking harder and harder
and STOP!
